The Organization:
Search for Common Ground (Search) is the world's largest dedicated peacebuilding organization, founded in 1982. With programs across Asia, Africa, the Middle East, and the United States, Search transforms conflict with diverse tools inspired by its Common Ground Approach. Search is implementing a 10-year strategy to drive enduring change and transform many of the world's most consequential conflicts. 
 
The Project:
Search, with support from the US Embassy through the PREACT fund, is currently implementing a project known as “Strengthening Awareness and Resilience to Violent Extremism in Kigoma’’ with the overall objective to foster improved understanding and communication channels to support community resilience to violent extremism in vulnerable communities in Kigoma region of Tanzania. The project is implemented in three districts in Kigoma region which are Kigoma Urban, Kasulu, and Buhigwe.

The Assignment:
To support this project implementation, Search is looking to contract 3 radio stations to produce Radio content in Kiswahili, as a means to foster improved understanding and communication channels to support community resilience to violent extremism in vulnerable communities in Kigoma region. Each radio station will provide broadcast coverage in one of the 3 Districts:
1). Kigoma Urban
2). Kasulu
3). Buhigwe
Deliverables:

    • The radio episodes to be produced will have an objective of:
    • Ensuring the Youth, civilian security agents and other key community members have the understanding of community needs and vulnerabilities regarding violent extremism, recruitment, and radicalization and other security concerns.
    • Providing concrete PVE communication channels and community engagement opportunities for youth, community leaders and security actors to jointly address security issues in border countries.
    • Building a network of actors with an understanding of the context, drivers, opportunities and risks related to VE has been extended to a broader set of stakeholders.
    • Youth, security agents and other key stakeholders have increased knowledge and capacity to address security concerns related to VE.
    • Allowing opportunities for constructive dialogue about VE issues among different interest groups and security forces and ensuring concrete initiatives to address specific VE problems have been identified and implemented.

    • The selected Radio Stations will need to deliver:
    • Production of 40 episodes of 45 minutes each, based on guidance provided by Search and developed in collaboration and synergy with other involved radio stations
    • Airing of episode on weekly basis and its recaps
    • Submitting media log and report after every episode aired
    • Posting program adverts and jingles on social media
    • Mobilizing participants with support from Search
Evaluation Criteria:
    • Proven track record producing high-quality programs for a national and international audience
    • Prior experience producing TV and Radio programs for international NGOs in Tanzania
    • Knowledge of the target locations and areas surrounding
    • Having production facilities and qualified and experienced station staff who could produce the contracted radio program
    • A price quotation for producing and airing a weekly 45 minute radio program
    • Ability to produce narrative reports documenting production and feedback, as well as strong financial management for invoicing
