Technical Account Manager Tanzania
Overview
Mastercard is recruiting a Manager, Technology Account Management (TAM) focusing on Tanzania who will play a crucial role in building and maintaining strong client relationships to drive business growth and customer satisfaction. The TAM will work closely with internal teams, banking partners, and third-party processors, providing technical and strategic support to ensure the successful deployment of Mastercard's products and services. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, business acumen, and leadership skills to identify opportunities, guide complex projects, and ensure seamless service.
Role
Client Relationship Management
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with banking partners, third-party processors, and key stakeholders.
- Serve as a trusted advisor, addressing inquiries, concerns, and escalations.
- Ensure customer needs are met with innovative and tailored solutions.
Technical & Business Expertise
- Leverage deep knowledge of Mastercard solutions to provide consultative support and insights.
- Translate complex technical concepts into business-relevant solutions.
- Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes.
Sales & Revenue Growth Support
- Partner with account teams to identify revenue-generating opportunities.
Assist in pre- and post-sales activities, contributing technical expertise to proposals.
- Develop strategies to expand product adoption and maximize business value for customers.
- Engage Account team as part of Account Planning, coordinate and integrate annual and ad hoc business planning with customer and internal partners to prioritize strategic, mutually shared objectives.
- Build solid relationships with internal cross-functional partners, ensuring customer and market needs are being communicated and being met
Project Oversight & Issue Resolution
- Monitor ongoing projects, ensuring alignment with customer expectations.
- Identify bottlenecks and proactively implement solutions with internal teams.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams for timely delivery of products and services.
- Monitor post-implementation customer service quality, providing Voice of Customer feedback to improve quality
- Provide Voice of Customer input into proposed product development initiatives, in addition to potential rule changes
- Act as an escalation point during implementation of customer implementation projects to ensure customers' and MasterCard's needs are met.
Strategic Initiative Leadership
- Identify opportunities to optimize Mastercard and customer revenue by utilizing existing technological capabilities, services or through innovation and development of new capabilities & ecosystems
- Leverage relationships with customers and vendors to identify sales leads and share such opportunities with Account Managers and Business Development teams/Expert Sales
- Drive initiatives to streamline operations, optimize performance, and increase efficiency.
- Advocate on customer needs internally, influencing product and service enhancements.
- Build, grow, and manage operational and technical relationships with Customers.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with key vendors in areas such as payments processing, network infrastructure and digital technology
- Identify customer needs and communicate operational enhancements to relevant internal stakeholders
- Guides customers to ensure their compliance with all Mastercard technology enhancements and mandates
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Promote and support training activities related to Mastercard products, mandates, and industry best practices.
- Act as Trainer to deliver our Mastercard Academy content to customers
- Conduct review forums to keep customers updated on new technologies and compliance requirements.
- Support the development and delivery of tailored training sessions.

- Extensive knowledge and demonstrable application of customer service principles and financial industry/banking operations and business practices.
- Ability to grasp technology details and translate them into solutions and/or to address business opportunities.
- Extensive knowledge of credit and debit card operations (issuing, acquiring, and processing) with emphasis on authorization, clearing, settlement and fraud and risk management.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience:
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
Industry Experience:
- Senior-Mid-career with a of proven experience in the payments industry, financial technology, or banking.
- Strong understanding of market dynamics, regulatory requirements, and emerging trends.
- Experience in a customer-facing role, engaging with clients, understanding their needs, and delivering tailored solutions.
Technical & Problem-Solving Skills:
- Strong analytical and conceptual thinking abilities.
- Ability to translate technical concepts into business value.

Serengeti Breweries Limited (SBL) is a fully integrated beverage business in Diageo Africa (supply and demand for beer and spirits).
SBL flagship brand is Serengeti Premium Lager. Other brands in the portfolio include Serengeti Lite, Guinness, Pilsner and SIB. Headquartered in Dar es Salaam, SBL is also the distributor of several global Diageo international world-class spirits brands such as Johnnie Walker, Smirnoff, Gordon's, Bailey's and Captain Morgan.
**Scope of the role**
Primary accountability is to deliver business year NSV and Volume outlined by Line Manager. (NSV 2.5-3 BLN TZS).
They will manage a district - distributors, stockists and execution in outlets
**Purpose of Role**
The Sales Executive will manage an assigned geographical area which may include towns/villages and several distributor territories in terms of achieving the primary and secondary sales targets/ distribution and other Key Performance Indicators. Lead and empower Area Distributors, VSM's and their staff in their assigned area to achieve the planned volume, market share, NSV and NR targets
**Leadership Responsibilities and Decision Making Rights**
Work with the commercial teams to ensure their dedication and engagement in the plans, in order to deliver flawless execution. Close working relationship with SBL marketing, supply and finance.
**Top 3-5 Accountabilities**
**Mentor & Accompaniment of VSM's** - SE are responsible for mentoring as part of Diageo's toolkit.
**Area Distributor Primary and Secondary Sales Performance Management** SE is responsible for Secondary sales management through stockiest and retail. They will be working with Distributor manager to drive primary sales plan that was agreed with Distributor. Responsible for management and execution in Top 10-15 outlets including stockiest. They order and passes them to VSM or distributor and ensures delivery. Adhere to own journey plan of stockiest, top outlets.
From time to time SE will be representing Distribution Manager to connect with Distributor. On secondary sales, SE have two fronts; presenting with Distributor on secondary sales initiatives, training and driving of VSMs on sales Force effectiveness targets. Secondary sales initiatives includes but not limited to agreeing secondary sales initiatives with Customer Marketing and managing those secondary sales initiatives. Some of the secondary sales initiatives include 3-wheeler project, stockiest incentive etc.
**New Distribution point Appointment** - Identification of potential areas for new distributors and stockiest. This is to facilitate effective and efficient stock movement to achieve primary and secondary sales target for their area. It also includes understanding and owning KYC process for recruitment of new business partners.
**Account Development:** they will be responsible for joint activities that are done between Top outlets and SBL to increase sale and market share. These may include;
+ Outlet execution for certain sales drivers to pull consumer towards certain brands/category i.e., Outlet visibility, price initiatives, consumer offers/promotions etc.
+ Innovation drive to push for innovation brand
+ Price compliance and availability
+ POS and visibility; cooler execution
+ Listing of new sku's and new brands
+ Drive sales and advise distributor of empties, OOS etc.
+ Collect competitive intelligence
+ Execute nationally coordinated activations in outlet
**Distributor Health and Profitability** - They are responsible for growing their distributor by being a logistic provider to a strategic partner with SBL. Measures shall be distributor operation are improving in quality in terms of ordering, receiving and distribution of stock, efficient in secondary distribution in terms of trucks, routes and staff capability, and automation of distributor operations. He will be working with Distributor Manager to make sure the distributor remain profitable throughout. He will also make sure SBL operates in an efficient way with distributor on making sure our investments with distributor have a healthy return on investment. They will be responsible on highlighting red flags whenever distributor operations and performance are jeopardizing SBL objectives.
**Qualifications and experience required**

+ Must have at least college graduate (Diploma and above) with mathematical and analytical skills, preferably business administration.
+ PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES: Must be excellent in interpersonal communication, self-initiator, must be able to work with low supervision, must have an analytical mind and ambitious to reach high targets, must be able to take business related initiatives to produce positive business results.
